This is a pretty common picture at our house these days. Little munchkin seems to be teething. She is cramming her hands, toys, books, our fingers, and pretty much anything else she can reach into her mouth. I have to say that so far she hasn't been too fussy. I can definitely tell that there are times they are really bothering her, but she isn't inconsolable. She has all the telltale teething signs; drool city, rash around her little bottom, she is spitting up quite a bit from all the extra saliva, and of course cramming everything in her mouth. She is seventeen weeks old today and will be four months old on Wednesday! Wow! Why is it that once you have kids time flies even faster than it did before?! Her four month appointment is on Thursday. I am excited to see how much she has grown!
Milestones: I think I have to record her first true laugh happening today. She has been almost laughing for awhile now, but today I had her going pretty good and would say it was a real laugh.
Sleep is something that has been slightly absent at our house these days. Maya typically was doing about 10-4 or 5-which was awesome! But the last week or so she has been waking up between 12:30-3:30 and having trouble settling back down after that. There was one day that I saw every hour from 12:30 on and that was a work day-boy was I exhausted. This week since I will be at home I am going to do some experimenting and figure out what works best. Tonight I am trying to go without the miracle blanket because 1.) she is starting to get out of it anyway and waking herself up and 2.) she isn't going to fit in it too much longer. We'll see how it goes. I am also experimenting with where she sleeps. So far it has been the pack n play beside me or in the bed with me. She has been taking some naps in her crib. I am planning to transition her to the crib, but right now with her waking up multiple times, I don't want to be trekking across the house all night. Last night she woke up at 2:30 and I was able to settle her back to sleep, but then she woke up at 3:30 so I fed her and wrapped her back up. She was restless for about 30-45 minutes after that before I finally pulled her into bed with me and she was out immediately! I am following her lead and just doing what feels right. We'll get it figured out :o)
We went out Saturday morning to hit up some garage sales. We were super disappointed because we didn't find anything! I am looking for some furniture pieces with lots of storage, but we found nothing! I was also on the lookout for board books for Maya and an exersaucer for Mom's house, but no luck with either of those either. Why is it that garage sale expeditions are either extremely successful or nothing at all?
Jared did start on a project this weekend. This was the project he had planned to start the day that I went into labor (good thing he didn't, huh?) He put tile in our entryway! I always forget to take a picture before he starts, but this is one with just the mortar board down after he had already ripped up the parquay floor.
And here is the entryway this morning. All the tile is laid. Now he just has to grout and seal the stone. We got a great deal on the slate at Lowe's. We are both very happy with how it turned out. He did a great job! I think the stone looks great with the floors. We are getting closer to getting all the floors replaced. Now, we just have to tile both bathrooms (currently laminate) and tile the kitchen which is currently a light wood laminate that does not match the rest of the house.
I am so looking forward to the next few weeks. It is bittersweet because I am so glad to be home for almost 3 weeks, but then that is the end of the summer and I will truly be back to work :o( It has been going okay. I am lucky that I have a job that I do enjoy, so it makes it easier, but I miss her so much when I am gone. I am so lucky though that I am able to have her with my mom or Jared when she isn't with me. Jared has really enjoyed his time with Maya when I am at work. And he is doing such a great job. I think he has definitely discovered that staying home with a baby is not as easy as it appears. :o)

And if you follow me on twitter, then you have already seen this picture, but I feel that it is very representative of my day today. Maya and I did a whole lot while daddy was at work. We had fun at the grocery and got to share the wonders of babywearing with several moms at the store. We always get so many comments when we go out and she is in the wrap or sling. I am just amazed that more parents don't do it. Not only does it make things easier, but it is good for baby and babies are typically so much calmer when worn as well. I know you guys don't need me to get on my babywearing bandwagon again :o) Not bad for a cell phone pic, huh? Notice the "green" grocery bags in the background?
Okay, that's it for now. I will be updating later this week with a four month post and I am hoping to get some fun photoshoots in too. But mostly, I am just going to be enjoying my time at home with my baby girl!

have you tried Hyland's teething tablets? they really do work well for some babies. it helps calm them - i always give the to Kennedy before bed during bad teething times!
