the one with Maya at 4 months

Four months? Four months? Really? I just cannot believe it! Here she is though sitting pretty in her cute little jean dress (that I got for $5 at a consignment sale before she was born).

Maya's four month dr. appt. was yesterday. She is right on track developmentally and the dr. commented on what a social baby she is. She weighed in at 16 pounds 6.5 oz and was 26 inches long! Sheesh! She has grown 6 inches in four months and nearly doubled her birthweight. She was in the 95th percentile for both height and weight. The dr. asked if we had started her on solids yet and I said I think she's doing pretty ok on breastmilk, don't ya think?! :o) She got some shots and I just hate to see her poor little face crumple when she does :o( She did well but she had a bit of a fussy afternoon-poor baby! She also refused to nap-poor Mommy! But she slept well last night and has been much better today. Except that she appears to be on a bottle strike again. I guess I need to get her to take them more often. Mom couldn't get her to take one until over 4 hours since her last feeding. That is what she was doing to poor Jared last week. Stinker!

In other sad news, I discovered that she has outgrown the weight limit on her pack n play basinet. So, choices for sleep now are in the pack n play with no basinet or in her crib. I am almost ready to transition her to the crib but I think that sleeping in the pack n play will be a good transition. I can't check on her as easily without the basinet. I actually have to get up to see her and I only did that once last night. For those of you that don't know me or my house, our nursery is on the other side of the house from our bedroom. That is why it is taking so long for me to feel comfortable moving her in there. But now, especially with the pack n play change I think I will be moving her soon. We just transitioned out of the miracle blanket and I only want to do one thing at a time so pretty soon I will be trying to move her to the crib. I have the best hubby in the world. He said "baby, if you don't want to move her yet, don't move her. just let her sleep in the pack n play still". I love that he understands :o) We are going to be going on another date night soon and I expect that this one will go much more smoothly and be enjoyable for both of us!

Here is a little re-cap in pictures of my little (or not-so-little) four month old.

And.....I couldn't resist photographing these chunky little legs in her baby legs! So cute!

How did I take this fresh basil (from my garden) to this yummy pesto?

By using my favorite new toy! I had been eyeing the magic bullet at Costco and thinking that I could make my own baby food, pesto, hummus, salsa, guacamole, smoothies, tomato sauce, etc.... I was thinking about it on Tuesday after I had snipped a bunch of basil and happened to post on twitter/facebook that I was interested in getting one and wanted to know if anyone had used one. About an hour later my sweet neighbor called and said that they had one that they had never used and said that I could have it (we really do live on the BEST street!) Thank you so much Linda and Kim! (I have already used it three times!)

Here is the pesto recipe:
-10-12 fresh basil leaves
-2 tbs pine nuts
-2 tbs olive oil
-1 tsp coarse salt-optional
-2 garlic cloves
-1 tbs parmesan cheese
Blend well.

I actually quadrupled the recipe to make a large amount ( had a lot of basil). The one thing I would go easy on is the salt. I thought that even 1 tsp was a lot for quadruple the rest. It was a little salty for my taste!

Happy weekend!
