Check out Ms. Maya's new trick called "the running man"
She is one funny little girl. Thursday was a day from you know where. It was my first day back and little one staged a bottle protest for the majority of the day that I was gone. She screamed for poor daddy for several hours and refused the bottle (he gets the trooper award for the week). Jared even tried just giving her some milk from a regular cup like I showed him, but I think the only result of that was a bath for Maya. He called me at around noon a bit harried. He wanted to bring her to me, but I was unfortuately stuck in a meeting I couldn't get out of. After the phone call, I went back into my meeting with my tears in my eyes. It was the first time that I felt the true reality of my new role as a working mom. My baby needed me and I couldn't go to here. I was pretty heartbroken. But, I got a text about 20 minutes later that she had stopped crying. Between Jared and mom, they got a few ounces in her. Then she just passed out and slept for 2 hours straight. She was still sleeping when I went to pick her up. Friday she was a perfect angel and she had a great day with her daddy. She took a few ounces from both Jared and mom. Thank goodness! I am not sure I would be able to go back to work on Monday if we had another day like Thursday! She's a smart little girl though and I think she figured out that if she didn't take the bottle or sippy cup then she wasn't going to get to eat. Yes, I said sippy cup! My little 4month old holds sippy cup handles with a death grip and drinks milk from it :) As her daddy says "you don't try to take the cup from her"!
She has also most definitely found her voice. I have always felt like I could take Maya anywhere no problem. Well......she has decided that squealing at the top of her little lungs is now hilarious. Cute and funny you say??? Hah! It actually is kinda cute at first....but after a few ear-piercing squeals I start getting the evil eye from other people. So we are working on distracting her with toys and singing and also shushing her. Let's hope this is a short phase! Although we talked to a guy this week that said that he has a one year old still doing it-oh boy....
Other fun things that Maya is doing .......rolling to her tummy to sleep. Every night she rolls over, even though I place her on her back. It is so very cute! Usually she has her arms up abover her head too.
And new today...Maya is jumping! This girl skipped crawling and walking and went straight to jumping. Okay, not really but she is bouncing up and down repeatedly on her little legs when she is on my lap. It is soooo funny! Hopefully we can capture that on video too. She is now sitting up without support for 15-20 seconds. It won't be long before she is doing that on her own.
So, I decided to close my other blog "the behavior analytic mom". I want to still write posts like that but I am just going to do them here. I changed the button on the right so that it will just link to those posts. I realized that I am not going to be good at keeping up with a second blog so I will just write them here. I am working on a post about how you can use visual supports to support communication and transitions and behavior. Let me know if you have other ideas or questions that you would like me to post about.

Bri....reading this post of your's brought back my own awful "new mommy at work" moments. Riley's dad would call Fairview and I would hear Ri in the background just crying and crying and daddy was in a panic. It was the worst. Ri's little face still crumbles when I drop him at the sitter's but I think that's just to mess with me. Hopefully things improve!! I'm sure they will. I'm waiting for a very large bag of money to drop on my porch so I can be the stay at home mommy I want to be!!!
