I am playing along again in Kelly's blog carnival to "Show us your life". The theme this week is wedding receptions and honeymoons....
Here we are almost five years ago. My funny hubby thought it would be fun to lift my dress up over his head before he took off my garter. I remember being very embarassed! :)
Cutting the cake was an adventure. I had forgotten that the bottom layer wasn't "real" and we kept trying to cut it. You can hear Jared asking for a chainsaw in our wedding video-we laugh about that every year when we watch our wedding video (a tradition we started the first year and we also toast with our wedding flutes).
I LOVED the groom's cake. The bride is holding onto the grooms tux tails as he tries to escape in a VW bug (which Jared used to drive in high school). The funny thing is that my dad tried to play a joke on my mom and tell her the morning of our wedding that Jared had gone off to play golf and was probaby going to be late for the wedding (probably not a good trick to play on a mama-of-the-bride!)
At our reception, we toasted with this 27 year old bottle of Jack Daniels that was bought the year that Jared was born (to be opened on the day of his wedding). That was some strong stuff!
Another Klibbe tradition is for the groom's father to wear red socks. I am not really sure why this tradition was started, but I think it's funny.
And here we are in Mexico almost five years ago as brand-new newlyweds. I think it's kind of a strange picture of me, but Jared has always liked it.
We did have such a blast (with a few hiccups-i.e. scary rides on mexican buses- here and there).
Enjoy all the reception & honeymoon photos!
I am excited to celebrate our anniversary in just a few weeks. The question is....will it be dinner for 2 or 3? :)

I've read a couple blogs with a "Groom's Cake" What is that about? We don't have such a thing here in Wisconsin.
My mom is a Southern so I knew about groom cakes. My husband is Hispanic and was surprised to hear about this tradition.
