the one with Maya at 2 months

Happy 2 months little girl! I forgot the sign this month-oops! She is growing so much and is just so much fun. I don't want to do anything else except be with her. She had her 2 month appointment yesterday on her 2 month birthday. She weighed 11lbs 5oz and was 23 inches long (only 1/2 inch growth this month as opposed to last month's 2 1/4 inches-phew!) She got her first shot and Maya and Mommy both cried a little. We have decided to split her shots up and follow an alternative vaccine schedule. I realize this is a very controversial issue, and I want to explain why I chose to do this. First thing, she was supposed to get 5 vaccines yesterday and I just think that is a lot of stuff going into a teeny tiny body. I am not opposed to vaccines and I think they serve a very important purpose. BUT, did you know that there are 37 vaccines recommended by the American Pediatric Association. Wow! I want more time to do more of my own research on the vaccines and their effects. If nothing else, if I can spread out the vaccines over more time and put less in her little body each time, I think that is better. We will have to go to the doctor more often, but I think it is worth it. She will get two more vaccines next month. I feel really good that I go to a pediatrician who is informed on different vaccination schedules and is willing to talk with me and help me to feel comfortable with what we are doing for our little girl. Again, I realize that not everyone agrees with me on this point. But with any decision you make for your child, all you can do is make the best decision you can with what information you have. This is what we felt comfortable with.

Anyway, the doctor was very impressed with her head control both upright and on her tummy. She cooed and smiled away for both the doctor and the nurse. Milestones: great head control and pushing herself up when on her tummy, lots and lots of smiles, coos and giggles, and figuring out use of her hands and grabbing on to any material she can get her hands on (blankets, hair, mommy's and daddy's shirt, etc.) Maya did incredibly well. She cried when the shot went in, but as soon as I was able to nurse her she calmed down. She slept most of the rest of the day and was barely fussy. I attribute this mostly to the fact that I wore her in the sling for most of the afternoon and evening. She even went down for the night at 9 and didn't wake until 4:30 when the alarm went off. I think that may be her longest stretch. Shots wore her out!

Here are some fun photos that I have taken the past week or so.

This one was from an impromptu photo shoot inspired by one cute, naked baby!

This one is one of my new favorites. She looks angelic here and is one of the few photos that I think she looks like me in (not that I look this angelic :o)

Notice her shirt...."I'll always be daddy's little girl". Bet you'll never guess who picked that one out-wink, wink!

And the last one is my chosen photo for the contest. I was picked as one of the 30 moms for this. I had to send in a new photo and Jenny helped me again with my photo shoot. I will give more details about how you can follow me in the contest as soon as I get them. I am so excited about participating!

And if you want to see more photos from the last two weeks you can go here. Love to all!

Bri, I did the same thing with the shots and I am so glad I did - I never felt comfortable with that many shots at one time in such a little one! Maya is a doll:)
