Milestones: smiling so much and definitely smiling in response to familiar people, really trying to roll over, holding her head up perfectly now, cooing and "talking" to us lots, and starting to fall asleep on her own when put down.
And this was our Jared's project for the day. It is a planter box that he built for all of our vegetables. I have been dying to make a vegetable garden, (in my quest for natural and frugalness-more on that in a moment) but I wanted it to be easily accessible for tending to and for the cooking. So......he built a raised planter that now sits on our deck. I LOVE it! We He planted tomato plants, sweet basil, cilantro, peppers, and mint. We need to get some jalepenos and banana peppers (they were out at Lowes). I am hoping to find some at the farmer's market this weekend.
So, I have really been working on a couple of things that I am going to blog about because I know you guys will help keep me accountable. First, I am really wanting to do things to help our environment. Things I am doing: using re-usable grocery bags, using green household cleaners Things I want to do: recycle (we don't have a pick up system and I have been using that as an excuse!) My plan by the end of the summer is to have a collection system in our garage that will make it easy to drop off the recycling. If anyone has tips, I would love to hear them. Second, I am working on being more frugal and these are my efforts here: menu planning, coupon clipping (recently discovered cellfire where you load your coupons on your Kroger plus card-no clipping!), and growing our own vegetables and herbs. Things I need to do: take a closer look at our budget. It's good to have goals, right??!!

Good job on the garden and the meal planning and the coupons and being frugal! I've been gardening since the summer after Naomi was born as well as the rest- and I LOVE being at home, too. Keep up the good work, Bri. You're a blessing to your little family.
Good goals! I don't have any great tips yet..but good luck! We need to suck it up and get reusable grocery bags too...but I use the plastic ones to put stinky diapers in so they don't stink up the house...so at least I'm not just throwing them out I guess :)
look at her hair in that first pic! it looks like its grown a ton!!
i cant tell why you love her so much, because i love her bunches from staring at a computer screen. :)
On the recycling front, we have the same problem. (no pick up) So I put a second trashcan with our regular one and marked it for all recycling. I empty it when it is full into 4 seperate containers;paper, aluminum, plastic and glass which I store in our garage. You will need to check to see what your recycling center accepts before you get started as some don't accept glass or certain types of plastic. Some also make you seperate your cardboard and paper items.
We use the storage tubs you can get at target or walmart that are 18-25 gallon tubs. It is nice because they are easy to wash out if it gets stinky (and it will) and they protect the car or truck when it is time to take them to the recycling center.
You can also turn in your leftover grocery bags to be recycled at any store that has a collection bin.
It is amazing how aware you become to the condition of the world we live in as you begin considering handing it over to your precious babe isn't it?!
And she is soooooo precious!
Have fun with your gardening and recycling! 8 )
