I have been saying that I was going to tell the story of her name for awhile now, and so here it is.....
This is a name that Jared picked out of a book that I originally liked, but wasn't too sure about. I really wanted to name her Ansley at that time-which I still really like, but Jared wasn't a fan. At Christmas, we thought we had decided on Graceanne as her name, but we tried calling her that and it just didn't fit. Back to the drawing board! One night I brought Maya up to Jared again and asked if we could try calling her that to see if it fit. We called her that for about a month before we made it official that Maya would be her name.
Maya's first middle name is after Jared's grandma, Grace. Grandma Grace passed away on March 24, 2008, which is exactly a year to the date before Maya's due date. Jared went to visit Grandma Grace in the days before she passed. She knew of the struggles that we were having with waiting for a baby. In the last moments, that Jared had with her she told him that she knew we would have our baby within the next year. Jared told her before he left that he planned to name his baby girl after her. Here is Grandma Grace with us at our wedding. She was a very special lady.
Her second middle name has been passed down for four generations, and Maya Grace will be the fifth generation. My great-grandma Ruth, named her daughter (my grammie) Juanita Ruth, my mom is Cynthia Ruth (who will be Maya's grammie), I am Brianne Ruth, and my daughter will be Maya Grace Ruth. Here are three generations of Ruth.......

Maya is going to be one lucky little girl to be named after such special women!
