She was almost 9 pounds!

Well, yesterday started at 1:30 am. I was pretty sure that real contractions were starting. We decided to try and get some sleep since they weren't real strong yet. We waited around the house until about 10:30 when Jared said okay, "I think we need to go now". We got to the hospital and thought we were going to be sent back home because I had made no progress at all. I just knew that these contractions were different though. My nurse hung in there with me and could see that I was truly getting to where I was in some pain, but still not making any progress. They gave me some perkoset for the pain. As the nurse gave it to me she had started to say that I could take it and go home if we wanted. But right then, I started to have another contraction and she said "you know what, we are going to monitor you a little longer". I started to get sick from the pain-ugh! Sure enough the next time she checked me, I had gone to a two and they said you are staying here and we are admitting you. Then, sweet relief came with the epidural around 4:00 and 7 hours later Maya entered the world. There are no words that I could use to explain the miracle of birth. It is by far the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. My wonderful husband was an absolutely unbelievable support and we couldn't be happier. We have had such wonderful staff at the hospital and feel so very blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family.
