the one with the new camera lens

I got my new camera lens on Tuesday! This was my baby gift from Jared or "push present" as my friend Anna calls it :o) It is a fabulous lens for photographing babies-I just have to learn how to use it. I am hoping to take a class and learn some more photography skills. These photos are results of my playing the last few days. The idea is that the lens focuses on your subject and then blurs the background-like this picture below. Like I said, I need some major practice messing with the different settings.

We have discovered that Maya loves being read to. She likes the rhythm of our voices reading and she also will sometimes look at the images on the pages. Here she is in her bouncy seat with mama reading to her.

This photo is not with the new lens, but I wanted to post it because it is "so Maya". I actually think she looks a little like my sister Brittany in this picture :o)

We went back to the doctor for Maya's 1 month check-up today. She is such a big girl! She is up to 9lbs 5oz and is 22 1/2 inches long! They said to look at her length she looks like she is two months old. She is going to be a tall girl like her daddy :o) She didn't cry for the first time when they weighed and examined her-yeah! As far as the tummy/bm issues go-she can go up to 5 days without one and that is okay. She may just be on a little different schedule and using every bit of her food to grow. I love good doctor visits-they give me confidence that we are doing everything right! She won't go back until her 2 month appointment when she will get her first round of shots-pray for Mama that she survives that visit!

Cute pics! She does look like a Matern in that last picture! The first round of shots aren't that bad...it's the fussiness after that got me! Good luck!
