my poor baby

She has had a rough couple of days :( She ran a fever for about a day and half. I took her to Mom’s today because I thought she was okay, but Mom called and said that she was acting pretty puny. So, I went to get her and took her to the dr this afternoon. I just wanted to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection or strep before the long weekend. She got a clean bill of health (other than the little bug) and we headed for home. She perked up quite a bit this afternoon and wanted to go outside. She played on the swing and slide, then wanted to play in her water table (no water, just toys). She started pulling toys out and then started SCREAMING and I realize that there is a very large bug. I feel like I was in slow motion trying to process the situation. My first thought was “locust”, but she was holding her finger and screaming. I thought “locusts don’t sting”. So I am frantically searching her finger for a sting and yelling at Jared to come look at this critter. And SURE enough it was a HUGE, freaking bumble bee! It was just down in her toys and sure enough it stung her little finger. Ugh…she has just had a yuck few days. I will say that she was quite the trooper. She only cried a minute or two, let us scrape the stinger, wash it, ice it, and apply a little baking soda/water paste (by the way what internet MD recommends in case you ever need to know…) Honestly, I think she was more bothered by having the paste on her finger. She kept sticking it in my face like “mom, get this stuff off me!”

My poor baby.

Well…to add to the drama….I had Jared poor alcohol over the tweezers before he used them on the stinger. The bottle was sitting beside us on the bathroom counter. Maya grabbed it and somehow managed to get the top off and dump half the bottle on the two of us. Jared and I just looked at each other like “good grief!” Ahhh….parenthood :)

She LOVES shoes. Any shoes that are laying around, she puts her feet in and then proceeds to walk around in them. It’s pretty stinkin’ cute!

Last night Jared came home with a new oven range for our kitchen. He got a great deal. We are hoping that it will entice a buyer to have all the appliances upgraded in the kitchen….we’ll see :)

What do you think???

Apparently, it was critter night at our house. There was a praying mantis out on our deck. These aren’t quite “macro” photos, but I thought they looked pretty cool.

We are just going to see how little miss is doing tomorrow and decide what to do for our anniversary.

I hope everyone has a nice, long weekend-free of fever, spilled rubbing alcohol, and bee stings :)

Love,

Bri
