Happy half birthday Gray!

Gray turned 6 months old on Saturday.IMG_8600

It’s funny, because it’s hard to imagine life before him, even though here he was not so long ago.IMG_5415

His six month check-up was today and he was right on target with all his milestones. He weighed 18lbs 4oz and was 27 and 3/4 inches long. I went back and looked here, and Maya actually outweighed him by 3oz and he is 3/4 of inch longer than she was at the same age.

No teeth yet, if he follows sissy, than that should be coming next month.

Sleep: Is getting so much better. He generally goes down at 7. Wakes around 11, but settles back with out eating. Then wakes between 1-3 to eat and then is usually up by 6:30. He naps irregularly, but usually takes 1 good nap and two cat naps. I have been trying to break him of the swaddle but have so far been unsuccessful. He obviously got too big for his miracle blanket so he has been sleeping in the halo sleep sack with arm swaddles. He wont stay asleep unswaddled, but I will just keep trying. I feel like by this age Maya had already started flipping herself to her tummy and she was definitely out of the swaddle. He has only flipped to his tummy in his sleep once.

Eating: He nurses 6-8 times a day still, but has also started some fruits and veggies. He has taken to these very well and I am feeding him foods at each meal already. He has had sweet potatoes, banana, carrots, apples, and we started avocado today.

Development:He is quite the active little guy. He still loves standing all the time. He is sitting up for several minutes at a time, though he does still topple over. He loves playing with toys and especially banging on things. He babbles and we have heard “ma ma” but not intentional yet of course. He has the most adorable cackling laugh. He also has started “yelling” at us to get his point across. It is nothing compared to sissy’s squeals at his age though. He doesn’t have too much interest in crawling because he really hates being on his stomach. He would much rather stand, though thankfully he loves to sit and play with toys.

I am hoping to get his official six month photos done soon, but I did have to do the traditional baby in a box for Christmas photo.

BIG SISTER:

IMG_8569

My wonderful spirited little girl. We had a ROUGH weekend behavior-wise. So bad so that I actually sat down and though through a behavior plan for her. We had a battle yesterday that lasted 3 hours (she did fall asleep for an hour in the middle of it) that impressed even her Aunt Jenny who was lucky enough to witness.

It is amazing how I can look so objectively at other kids’ behaviors and give parents the advice for how to deal with them, yet when it comes to my own child, I was missing the boat. With a little help from a certain sister’s perspective, I was able to see what was happening with my little girl and me. Today was a complete turn around. Thank goodness.

She is the most hilarious little girl. I still really wish that I recorded her or at the very least wrote things down when she said them, because I can never remember all the funny things she says when I want to.

I am excited to announce that she is officially day time toilet trained! She has been in big girl panties since mid November, and wears pull-ups only at night. She still won’t actually go at school (she just holds it), but she is fine everywhere else in public.

She is quite the little problem solver. She has a stool that she carries to all rooms of the house to get into whatever she feels that she needs to.

She is so excited about Christmas and talks about it everyday.

(sorry I forget not to video this way on my phone)

Mommy and Daddy even made it out of the house together for a Christmas Party!

Okay so that may be the longest update ever, so I hope you enjoyed it!

Hope you all are getting ready for the holidays!
