It gets harder and harder to take this picture with her bunny! :)
Here is her 10 month picture:
Look how much she has grown!
I had to include some standing pictures because that is all she is doing now!
“look ma….no hands!”
Okay, so here goes the 10 month update (10 months people! 10 months!…sorry had to get that out of my system :) …..
This has been a major month of development for Ms. Maya. She STILL is not crawling! She occasionally will scoot a few steps on her hands and knees on the bed, but other than that she is a crazy army crawling girl. That is when she is not pulling up on one of us to walk. She is all over the place and into EVERYTHING! She pulls up on everything to stand, she cruises along furniture, toys, or anything else she can find. She walks all over the house holding our fingers. She can walk behind her push toy, but not independently (yet). She has gotten very proficient in getting to a sitting position. Now often times when she is supposed to be napping, we will find her sitting up in her bed. Mom even said that she actually fell asleep sitting up in her bed today. She was sitting and just flopped her little head and body down between her legs to nap! Crazy girl!
She is pointing to everything. Most of the time she points to things just so that we will say what they are, but she is pretty clear about communicating with a point when she wants something. We have actually seen some toddler tantrum behavior this week. She throws her little head back and arches her whole body if she wants (or doesn’t want) something. She is waving and clapping on command, and will lay her head down when we say “night-night”. She is imitating facial expressions and some hand movements. I haven’t been good about working on the sign language. I am disappointed about that because I think if I had really worked with her she would have it down. Oh well, we can still do it.
She is eating all sorts of things. Her most favorite is blueberries. She also loves peas, cheese sticks, and cheerios. She is all about feeding herself. This girl also LOVES to drink water! She could teach her mommy a thing or two.
She has two bottom teeth and two more top teeth that are taking their sweet time coming in. You can see both of them but they have been coming for a couple of weeks now. I am hoping that explains why she is still waking up at night, because otherwise I am at a loss. Everyone says let her cry it out. One, I just really can’t do that. And two, the times that I have tried to let her cry a bit it seems to escalate her more and I truly don’t believe that she will cry herself back to sleep. I mean, I am sure she would after and hour, but I am not going to let her cry for an hour.
She is still in size 3 diapers and wearing 12 month clothes. I have been debating about whether I should buy new clothes in 18 month size. I think it is strange that there is such a big jump from 12-18 months. Anybody have advice or thoughts on that? I guess it is better to go ahead for spring clothes to buy 18 months huh? Also, at what age did you guys buy shoes? I wouldn’t even think about it except for sometimes when we are out she really wants to get down and walk and I don’t want her to walk around in her socks. What did you guys do?
Oh my goodness! I can’t believe my baby is 10 months old. I can’t believe I am going to be planning her 1 year old birthday party soon!

Pointing, crawling (sort of), standing, becoming her own little person. How awesome is all of this! Congrats on getting to 10 months and still feeling sane. :) Happy Bday Maya. Not long now before we celebrate your 1 year!!!
those pictures are so sweet--especially with the bunny!
my two year old is still in size three diapers...and her 3 month old brother is on his way:)
sleep will come eventually. it can be so frustrating, i know. and you know your babe. with dylan, she wouldn't ever settle after getting hysterical, but tonight, little james cried his little heart out for about six minutes and has been sound asleep ever since. just do whatever works, and know that she will eventually sleep through the night. babies do go through inexplicable poor sleep phases, and it's no fun.
dylan didn't walk until about sixteen months, and it was march. i just had her in those little mocassins (from target:) until then, and then jill got her some sturdier mary janes, too. in the summer, she had crocs and sandals, and honestly, we didn't buy a pair of real sneakers until this september (when she was almost 2!)
it's definitely not too late to learn sign:) it's worthwhile for sure.
