My baby is 9 months old today!!!!!
Look how much she has grown….
We had her 9 month appointment this morning. I always LOVE going to her pediatrician. Is that weird? I just love checking in on all her stats and growth and development. AND she didn’t have to get shots this visit, so that makes it even better. Well, she is OFF the charts in length, so I guess we know she is definitely taking after her daddy. She was 29 3/4 inches long. I wasn’t sure what to expect for her weight because she was a whopping 18lbs 6oz at 6 months (95th percentile), but since she has become mobile she has slowed down and gotten considerably lean. She actually only gained a pound and an ounce to be 19lbs 7oz which is still 50-75th percentile. She did SO great when they pricked her little toe to test for iron. She did not even cry!!!! We got to see our favorite nurse Ms. Heather today who always is so sweet to Maya. She was funny because a different nurse came in to prick her toe and after we came out Heather said she was glad that she wasn’t the one that had to do it :) They said she looked great and is growing and social and happy. Yay!
Milestones: (bear with me…I am not keeping up with my baby book and want to record everything here :) She is still army crawling to get around wherever she wants, but she has figured out that she can get up on all fours. She gets up and rocks back and forth on her knees. I’m still not sure if she is going to figure out the hands/knees crawling. She may go straight to walking :0)She is able to stand pretty well holding on. She is reaching for our hands all the time now to pull up to standing. She likes to dance, jump, bounce, and step while holding on to your hands. She turns pages in a book. She picks up puffs with her fingers, but hasn’t quite figured out self-feeding yet.Today she did try a teething biscuit and was all about putting that in her mouth! She likes food okay, but it just isn’t her biggest motivation. She likes to grab for the spoon while we are feeding her though! She is eating lots of fruits and veggies cut up into small pieces. She has eaten turkey and chicken, but they are not favorites. We just started dairy and she has had yo-baby yogurt and is a BIG fan! She LOVES to drink water and mostly does it independently from a sippy cup. She is clapping her hands and giving big open mouthed kisses :) She is holding out things to others, but she doesn’t always want to share. At the Christmas Party yesterday, she was “sharing” her little reindeer toy with a little boy, but then when he took it out of her hands she had a mini-tantrum to get it back-oh my! She has also proven to be a “little pick pocket”. Jared took her to TJ Maxx and when he got her up to the checkout, he looked down and she had managed to pull several things into the stroller! Ha! She now has two bottom teeth and TONS of hair. She says “ma ma” and “da da” though they aren’t totally purposeful. She has a wonderful laugh and grins all day long. She is an unbelievably happy baby! She isn’t quite sleeping through the night, but we did have two good nights this week where she was in her crib until 3 and 4. Most nights she goes down around 7, wakes up around 11 (usually can be settled back), then wakes again around 2 or 3 (usually to eat), and then goes back to sleep til we get up between 5:30 and 6:30. I really can’t complain because most nights she wakes and goes right back to sleep. She has had a bit of stranger anxiety lately, but does really well with people she knows. She reaches her hands up or bounces on her tummy like a seal when she wants to picked up. She is still doing “wiggle wiggle” but not nearly as often as she was. She is doing new things everyday and is just so much fun!
I can’t believe it is only 3 days until Christmas! We are so excited to spend it with our girl!
Happy 9 months baby girl!!!!!
