11 months

My “baby” turned 11 months old today. I can hardly believe it. It has all just flown by way too fast.

And here is my 11 month old:

It was nearly impossible to get this picture. I had to wait until Jared could help me because all she wanted to do was “love” the bunny :)

And Daddy insisted that we had to have a standing one:

For anybody who wants to do photos like this with a stuffed animal, I definitely recommend that you do them ON THE FLOOR! Maya kept trying to dive off the couch while I was taking her picture-ah!

My little eleven month is so close to walking! Once she figures it out, look at because she is going to be running! She is walking just barely holding on to my finger and has really great balance. She is FAST too! It is really hard to keep up. I have got to find some better-soled shoes, because she has worn out her little moccasins walking. She wants to walk all the time! It is very cute to watch her. I promise to try and get video.

She has become quite the little problem-solver these days. We necessarily have had to baby-proof our kitchen and little miss couldn’t get into one cabinet, so she would just go and try another one. She also picked up her sock tonight while I was folding her laundry and attempted to put in on her foot! Smart little cookie :)

She is saying “mama” and “dada” all the time and it seems to be a little more purposeful. She also has said something that sounds like “dah” talking about Cali (the dog, whom she loves)  and says “ah dah” which I think might be an attempt at “all done”-not sure on that one though. When you tell her “no” now, she shakes her head back & forth-too cute! When you say “yay!” she claps her hands. She is just now consistently crawling on all fours, so I guess she isn’t going to completely skip crawling.

She is eating lots of different things. Current favorites are grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, mozzarella cheese sticks, and blueberries (of course). The only pureed-type food that she still eats is yogurt. I gave her a spoon and bowl once with yogurt in it, and let’s just say I haven’t been brave enough to try again-IT WAS EVERYWHERE!

We are starting to work on getting rid of the bottle and just using a sippy cup for her milk while she is gone from me. She only takes 2 bottles a day now, and I figure before we make the switch to whole milk, it’s as good a time as any to go ahead and get rid of the bottle.

She has two bottom teeth and two top that are maybe halfway in (good grief they are taking forever!) We think she is getting more teeth too because she is very drooly and actually has been a bit cranky this last week. And NO, she is still not sleeping through the night. She will some day right? Right? :)

This girl LOVES her books. She loves to be read to and she loves to sit and look at them on her own. She will pick a book up and hold it out for you to read. It is so cute! I will read the same book like 6 times because she just keeps asking for it :)

She LOVES cabinets and drawers (hence the baby-proofing) and sometimes I just let her play in them (supervised, of course) so that I can finish getting ready!

AND in other exciting news…WE ARE BUILDING A HOUSE

We started playing with the idea of moving a few months ago, and with the interest rates what they are we discovered that we can move into a house in the county I work in that is a lot bigger than where we are now, so our house is going up for sale.

We are sad to move out of our house, because we have wonderful neighbors and we have so many great memories (namely bringing our daughter home). But, this will be a wonderful community for Maya to grow up in and it is right behind the elementary school she will go to. We are so very excited!

And here is our future home:

2-21-10

So… you will get to see lots of updates as our house gets built!

Last thing. I made a good recipe tonight that I thought I would share. Yum!

Recipe Name: Baked Creamy Pork Taquitos

Categories:
Serves:

Rating:
Prep Time:

Ingredients:
1/3    c    (3 oz) cream cheese
1/4    c    green salsa
1T        fresh lime juice
1/2    tsp    cumin
1    tsp    chili powder
1/2    tsp    onion powder
1/4    tsp    granulated garlic
3    tbsp    chopped cilantro
2    tbsp    sliced green onions
2    c    shredded cooked pork or chieken
1    c    grated pepperjack cheese
        flour tortillas
        kosher salt
        cooking spray

Instructions:
1.  Heat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.

2.  Heat cream cheese in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds so it’s soft and easy to stir. Add green salsa, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, onion powder and granulated garlic. Stir to combine and then add cilantro and green onions. Add chicken and cheese and combine well.
TIP:  You can prepare up to this step ahead of time. Just keep the mixture in the fridge.

3.   Place 2-3 T of chicken mixture on the lower third of a tortilla, keeping it about 1/2 inch from the edges. Then roll it up as tight as you can. Place seam side down on the baking sheet. Lay all of the taquitos on the baking sheet and make sure they are not touching each other. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray or an oil mister and sprinkle some kosher salt on top.

4.  Place pan in oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until crisp and the ends start to get golden brown.

OK, you aren't kidding about the twin on the West Coast. WOW! They are so similar all the way from their teeth to their love of books. :) She'll be running around the house before you know it.

And congrats on building the house. YAY!
