Happy Fourth of July

*updated with pictures

The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays! I love cookouts and watching fireworks. Jared tells me that I look just like a little kid when I watch fireworks. I am so excited because we are going to watch the downtown show tonight. We haven't been in two years! Last year we stayed at a friend's cookout and the year before that we went to the show at Crocket Park. Their show is okay, but it just does not compare to the show in downtown Nashville. The weather is calling for rain, but I really hope that it holds off for tonight. When I taught preschoolers, we always had a birthday party for the fourth of July and sang Happy Birthday to America-they loved it!

Happy Fourth of July! Happy Birthday America!

*Update We had so much fun tonight! We went with Brittany to a party that Creative Space Nashville put on. We had a beautiful view of the Nashville skyline and there was good food and great live music. There were maybe 100 people there and it was very tame (not what I expected when Britt invited us, but very pleasantly surprised!) We sat on top of semi scale in a machinery yard and had a fabulous view of the fireworks. The only thing was that the fireworks kept setting off a loud alarm on the equipment!

The real fun came when it was time to go home though. I, being the responsible DD that I am, got the pleasure of fighting the traffic home. Let's just say that I feel very lucky to have made it out alive! We are definitely going to do a limo or something next year. It is so worth it to go downtown to see the show, and the party was great, but we have got to find a way to do it without fighting the crazies! Then, as soon as we were leaving Britt's house after dropping her off, it started to pour! We got soaked and then had a very adventurous 35mph trip home on I-65. Ahhh! My nerves were shot by the time we actually made it home!
