TWO YEARS OLD!

I can’t believe that I am posting an update that my baby girl is two years old. I still look at her and can barely believe she is my daughter. I am slightly biased, but I think she is one amazing little girl!

She started her day with special pancakes shaped like Mickey from Daddy.IMG_2787bwIMG_2795

Then we took her to the zoo!IMG_2809

She rode the carousel for the very first time! At first she wasn’t so sure, and wouldn’t sit on the animal.IMG_2829

Then right before the ride started, she decided she wanted to sit on the tiger (it was even one that went up and down). She LOVED it! I was so proud of her (pregnant mommy did cry a little bit).IMG_2850IMG_2871

It was feeding time for the baby goats, so they weren’t too interested in being petted. Maya enjoyed watching them eat.IMG_2885

This is Maya in the car on the way home. I recorded it because I want to remember what her little voice sounded like.

We came home and let her take a nap (aka “resting” in her bed for about an hour). We told her that after she took her “nap”, then she could open her presents.

This was her face when she saw her bike:IMG_2899

She rode it immediately!IMG_2906

Then we took it for a spin outside.IMG_2946IMG_2953IMG_2963

Then it was time to go for birthday dinner. We played outside while we waited for food.IMG_2981IMG_2996IMG_3007IMG_3011IMG_3016IMG_3052IMG_3069

She kept calling these on the wrought iron fence “birthday” and here she is “blowing out her candle”. IMG_3091

There was live music and Maya danced a little bit. Too cute!

I’m not sure I can even give a great update about all of the new things she is doing, because it is kind of unbelievable. She LOVES to be outside and has even learned to blow bubbles.

Singing and counting are probably the newest things she is doing. She sings recognizable songs all day long(ABCs, twinkle twinkle, wheels on bus, ring around rosies, it’s raining, its pouring, pop goes the weasel). She counts to 10, though sometimes she leaves out 5 and she can even count 11, 12, but gets lost somewhere in the teens. She LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

I also think socially this has been a HUGE area of growth for her. School has played a big part in that. She plays with friends now, and is not so “shy”. She names friends at school and they told me at school today that she started counting all of her friends at lunch!

She learns new words and concepts every day. She uses a lot of descriptive words appropriately like; heavy, cold, bright, under, etc. She correctly names several colors, shapes, and letters. She even seems to be doing a little sight word reading, but I really need to put this to the test to see if this is really what she is doing or not. I LOVE her love for her learning. She is such a little sponge and soaks up everything around her. She talks about her baby brother a lot now. She says “baby mommy tummy”, and will even say his name.

She is almost always using 2-3 word sentences and sometimes will put 4+ words together. She will repeat her whole name and if you ask her to say her whole name she will say “Maya Grace”. She NEGOTIATES like a pro. I about fell out when she starting doing this. She would ask me for something (like crackers) and I would say “no, not right now” and she says “ONE Mommy ONE” with this most intent look on her face, like “this is my final offer”. Hilarious!

Oh boy is she ever TWO! She is one strong-willed little girl. I LOVE it though. I see so much of my type A personality in her, so she comes by it honestly.

We got to the doctor tomorrow and I will update stats then.

* update 35 inches tall and 26lbs.

We are so blessed by our little miracle girl and it has been the most amazing two years that I could have asked for.
